This exotic Pineapple House Plant is a superb architectural indoor plant for a bright windowsill or conservatory! Great for creating a talking point in your home, this unusual, tropical house plant produces pineapple fruits that are instantly recognisable.
Ananas comosus is a terrestrial bromeliad, producing a wide rosette of dramatic, sword-like foliage.
The coarsely-toothed leaves have an attractive arching habit.
Like other Bromeliads, this evergreen is capable of purifying the air, removing harmful toxins from your home.
In summer, plants produce cones of purple flowers with bright red bracts for a spectacular display.
The flowers are followed by fruits, which gradually grow up to 3cm (12in) tall after 7-8 months! There’s no denying that growing Pineapples take patience, so we’ve give you a head start with a young plant that has already begun to form a single fruit.
Please note: Some houseplants are toxic or harmful to pets if ingested.
If you believe your pet has consumed a poisonous plant then seek veterinary attention immediately and take a sample of the plant with you.
Pineapple plants require a warm and sunny position, well away from cold draughts, with a minimum temperature of 15C (59F).
