The SAR switches an external signal generator (e.
g.
bell, horn or lamp) through a contact with its own or separate power supply when a control voltage is applied (e.
g.
incoming call voltage of a telecommunications connection line).
With the in-built switch the external signalling can be switched on or off.
The SAR 1 is connected to a telecommunications line and is controlled by the call voltage.
The switching takes place via the terminals Lb and W of the TAE-connection socket or alternatively also at the terminals La and Lb (parallel switching) of the connection line.
The SAR 1 responds only to the call voltage and not to the dial tone (IWV).
