The Canon DR-E5 DC Coupler is used in conjunction with a compatible AC adapter (the Canon CA PS700, for example) and allows you to power your Canon EOS 500D, EOS 1000D or EOS 450D directly from an AC Power source, supplying uninterrupted power for your camera while downloading pictures to your computer, for extended work in a studio, or while viewing images while connected to your TV or PC.
